A great way for students to get involved in My Very Own Blanket is by making fleece blankets. They are quick and easy, as students from St. Brigid recently demonstrated (from the St. Brigid January Newsletter): EPIC students did a great job making blankets in January for children in foster care. We made about 100 blankets that will be taken to social service agencies in central Ohio for children to choose from when they first enter the foster care system. Jessica Hollins, founder and CEO of the non-profit organization My Very Own Blanket, came to talk to EPIC students about what happens in foster care and why these blankets would be so special for the kids. We also discussed Mission and what that means to each of us personally and had small group discussions about what we are each feeling called to do in our lives.
Our fleece blanket kits are available for purchase at the Blanket Workshop. Just pick one up and make at home on your own time. Have a blanket making party with family and friends tying No-Sew fleece blankets! It’s easy and great for any age group.
